Less is definitely more…

Individuals approach fashion differently; whilst some adopt styles that reflect simple and chic, most adopt styles that induce headaches. A lot of times, we clad our wardrobes with pieces we deem necessary; pieces we cannot do without, pieces that scream tacky. But must we hold on to such distasteful items that do not complement our overall style? To get a head start on your road to elegance and chic, decide on what helps and what doesn’t, what to keep and what to get rid of.

In matters of fashion like related industries i.e. arts and architecture, there are the minimalists and maximalists; terms used to express less or more (excess).

Minimalists champion Simplicity, while maximalists champion excess. Minimalist believe looking good should be effortless; minimal makeup, lashes, accessories, hair, nails, etc. In my opinion, celebrity minimalists include Jessica Alba, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, while celebrity maximalists include Mercy Johnson, Nicky Minaj, Beyonce Knoweles to mention a few.

Maximalists

First impressions count, but many impress the wrong way by going over the top.  In an effortless and subtle manner, you can nail it if you are constantly guided by the quote ‘LESS IS MORE’ like I am. ‘Less is more’ is commonly used in the world of fashion to describe the simplicity of style.

·      Do you scream to be heard?
·      Short/Petite but wear such long hair extensions?
·      Full-figured but struggle to fit into tight clothes
·      Do you wear loud make up at the wrong time?
·      Leave nothing to the imagination of others?

Omotola looking simple and elegant
Simplicity portrays sexiness and elegance!

‘Packaging' is a term often used in Nigeria to describe how you put together your overall appearance; hair, makeup, clothes, nails, shoes, fragrance, bag, etiquette, interaction and overall body language, and how you present yourself to people because it determines how you would be received and treated.

But a lot of times, people tend to go about this 'packaging thing' the wrong way and end up missing instead of hitting the Mark, resulting in HOOCHIEness; like I see where they are going but they never quite made it there.

Whether in style, chatting to friends, trying to grab attention, or anything else...we should be guided by the Simplicity of Style. You do not need too much to stand out, but
·      The right choice of colours to suit your skin type,
·      The right fitting clothes,
·      That nice looking hair and make up to match the mood, character, occasion and image you want to portray and not to forget...the right attitude, all to moderation because Less is definitely more!

Less is more...Simple but Chic
