WEDDING FASHION

With the passing of time, I have come to see that planning a wedding is not an easy task especially in this part of the world (Nigeria) where people begin planning a few months to their big day. Only a few begin planning up to a year before time.

Making the right choices of colours, patterns (Clothing) and accessories to put together a lovely bridal fashion is as important as ensuring that you have taken and concluded your wedding classes and booked your venue.

When choosing your wedding colours, it is important to consider colours that match you skin complexion. This is not restricted to dress and makeup alone but also the interior décor of your wedding party/reception.

A lot of people may wonder how many colours wedding dresses come in. Wedding dresses do not come only in white and ivory alone but in as many colours as you can imagine and may desire to wear. Typically, dark skinned people should wear more of ivory because it softens their tone of complexion as white is too much of a contrast to their skin tone. Light skinned people can wear both colours.

For makeup, dark skinned people should wear more of cool colours like navy, purple, fuchsia or colours that blend into their skin for a more natural look and stay clear of warm colours like pink, orange, gray, that give a huge contrast to their skin colours and make them look dirty. Also, choose shoes that you can wear after your big day so that white or cream/ivory shoes don’t sit idle on your shoe rack after your wedding.

In the accessorizing department, if you choose to wear chandelier/drop earrings, go for a dress with an accessorized neckline so that the accessories stand in as your neck piece, because wearing a drop earring and necklace is out of place. Alternatively, choose earrings that do not drop if you want to wear a neckpiece.
